DISCOVERING YOUR POTENTIAL

There are many important factors to consider when attempting to arrive at a decision about one’s future or discover your calling. However, I would like to focus on the three that best help us tap into our potential. These three when aligned provide a glimpse into the authentic self.

GIFTS
We are usually born with them and they are recognizable at an early age. According to  Richard Leider and David Shapiro of The Inventure Group: “ Our gifts are those special aptitudes that are the force behind those things we enjoy and do well.” They go on to ask why is it we can constantly give them away without holding back or depleting the supply?

PASSIONS
Our passions as described by Leider and Shapiro, are the issues we care most deeply about. If we connect our passions to our gifts we are close to being aligned! Passions are not passions however if the burning desire is never acted on. Passion is active and moves us to action.

VALUES
The last piece in the alignment triangle. It has been said that the virtues you practice are really your values in action. They are the spark that sets-off and connect us to our passions. When we are most vital and enthusiastic about an activity it is usually because we are connecting to our core value. Values define us and make us unique.
